Client Description

A leading global automotive supplier, offering
solutions in the body sealing, fuel, brake and emissions, thermal
management and anti-vibration segments of the industry.


Our Client has a management infrastructure in place
for the internal audit function consisting of a Vice President of
Internal Audit, a Director of SOX and two Internal Audit Managers.
However, they do not have sufficient staff to conduct field work. For
this reason, our company relies on the services of outside firms to support most
of the field work around the globe.

Engagement Summary

Townsend Consulting Group (“Townsend”) was engaged as
the exclusive provider of internal audit and SOX services to several
global operating locations and corporate headquarters. The Townsend team
consisted of 4-6 internal audit professionals throughout the year. The
consultants conducted field work consisting of control testing and
substantive testing, operational reviews and issued audit reports for
several of the client’s global locations.

Our client is a $14 billion automotive supplier
with operations in 29 countries offering solutions in climate,
electronics and interiors.


The client has faced strategic challenges given the
automotive and general economic decline from 2008 to 2011. As a result
of these challenging conditions the client has experienced increased
turnover within the accounting and finance function.

Engagement Summary

Townsend Consulting Group (“Townsend”) was engaged as
the acting Assistant Controller to support the Corporate Controller due
to a vacancy created by a recent promotion. The primary objective was
to assist and manage the workflow associated with the filing of the 10-Q
and 10-K. Townsend’s consultant focused on financial reporting and
technical accounting research working closely with the Corporate
Controller, Division Controllers and Director of Financial Planning and
Analysis, as well as the supporting staff of the Corporate Controller.
